For more than 20 years, our firm has skillfully gathered, analyzed, and projected data for a variety of real estate investments across Arkansas. Originally founded by Jay Porter in 2000, the company took a short break in 2013 as Jay spent a year working for a national firm as a senior valuation specialist. He returned to Porter Appraisals in 2014, and since that time, the firm has been running strong and serving clients with a wealth of experience in commercial real estate valuation. In 2022, the company rebranded to Porter Valuation Group to highlight the collective efforts of our growing team that offers local market expertise, a desire to go the extra mile, and a credible reputation to go along with it.
Jay has been in commercial real estate valuation for more than 25 years. In addition to founding Porter Valuation Group, his experience includes working for Arkansas Appraisal Group, Arkansas Appraisal Associates, and Colliers International Valuation and Advisory Services. Known for being credible and highly relational, Jay has a vast network of colleagues and connections in the business.
Education & Certifications
As a graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a degree in public relations, Jay also studied at the University of Arkansas. He is a certified general appraiser in two states: Arkansas Certified General #1541 and Tennessee Certified General #6101.
Professional Affiliations
In addition to being a candidate for Designation with the Appraisal Institute pursuing the distinguished MAI designation, Jay serves an active board member with the Arkansas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He is also a member of the Arkansas Realtors Associates, Little Rock Board of Realtors, NE Arkansas Board of Realtors, and Hot Springs Board of Realtors.
Personal Life
Married for 26 years, Jay has two sons who are currently enrolled at the University of Arkansas. He is a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and currently serves on the Chapter Advisory Board for Arkansas Alpha Chapter at the University of Arkansas. In his spare time, Jay enjoys hunting and fishing, traveling, and Razorback Athletics.
Jake has worked with Porter Valuation Group for the past five years as a Certified General Appraiser. Prior to working with us, he served as an Intern at Integra Realty Resources throughout his final semester in undergraduate school.
Education & Certifications
Jake graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a minor in Entrepreneurship studies. He received his Certified General Appraiser certification from the AALCB and is Arkansas Certified General #4458.

He is a Practicing Affiliate with the Appraisal Institute and serves as an active member of Arkansas State Alumni Association.
Personal Life
Jake and his wife, Burgin, typically spend their free time outdoors running, hiking, cycling, and taking their dog, Barkley, on walks.
